I love this picture postcard of downtown Brewster, untouched and unromanticized. It's the way I remember Brewster back when we'd all pile into the old Chrysler to go shopping.
The 50's may have also been the heyday of postcards. Like the Internet today, racks of 'em were displayed everywhere. Pictures of the area, the attractions, the stores, the high points, plus the typical wish-you-were-here greetings. It's the way people kept in touch back then, a few pennies and few lines to say hello from the far reaches of the hinterlands. "Hey, look where we are! Wish you were here!"
